Circle Ten Shooting Sports Information
Welcome to the Circle Ten Shooting Sports information webpage. Circle Ten offers NRA instructor certification, NRA RSO certification, BB Gun, and Archery certification courses at reduced prices to members of Circle Ten Council. BSA policy requires that all shooting sports activities be conducted by properly certified people. The amount of certified people depends on the type of shooting sport event. The BSA National Shooting Sport manual (2015 Printing) list the requirements for each type of event and how many certified people are needed for that event. Here is the link for the 2016 Shooting Sport Manual Update. For more information on BSA's policies on Shooting Sports check out the BSA Shooting Sports FAQ page. Click here for the main BSA shooting sports webpage. Another good BSA manual to have for shooting sports is the BSA Guide to Safe Scouting. Link for the new Multi-Gun Airsoft Manual.
Note: This information is for classes taken in 2016 and beyond.
The courses have changed in 2016 due to changes within the NRA Instructor program. The NRA no longer offers seperate muzzle loading course for specific types of guns (Rifle/Shotgun/Pistol). They now only have one certification and you must qualify in each area in order to be certified. This means that the class routine that had been used in the past will no longer be used. There is now a separate Muzzle Loading class in which you will qualify for all three. Becuase of this the Rifle and Shotgun classes have been combined into one class, and the BIT class taught at the beginning of the old class is now split out into it's own class. If you do not already have a NRA instructor rating (and therefore have taken BIT), you MUST take the BIT class first before you take the Rifle/Shotgun class. Without the BIT class you can not be certified by the NRA as an Instructor.
The BIT class will be offered twice a year prior to the Rifle/Shotgun class for those who need to take it. Also note that those currently certified in muzzle loading but only have Rifle and/or Shotgun (i.e. don't have Rifle/Shotgun/Pistol) have until June of 2016 to certify in the missing area or lose their current certification. To accomodate this there is a special muzzle loading prequalification class being scheduled. The schedule and the ability to sign up for 2016 classes will be coming soon. The schedule is in the process of finalization and once that is done the classes will be posted for registration.
